There are two other things I really appreciated about this book, both of which are related to psychology. I think this book is mistitled. Cognition years, I assumed that it was some kind of self-help book embout when to trust your gut and when to trust your head, and thus I put off reading it. Délicat Thinking, Fast and Slow is nothing of the hasard.
There are however a double of problems. Firstly there are some people who apparently are wedded to the idée that people are entirely rational.
And embout half give the right answer: the law of large numbers, which holds that outlier results are much more frequent when the sample dimension (at bats, in this subdivision) is small. And the funny thing is without system 1, we'd won't survive a day in the life. Not to Commentaire we wouldn't act human. System 2 nous the other hand is more introspective, rational and is capable of being aware of the cognitive biases created by System 1. If my understanding is bienséant then, we can replicate system 2 by a Dispositif or artificial entendement. Nisbett’s suivant-favorite example is that economists, who have absorbed the lessons of the sunk-cost fallacy, routinely walk out of bad movies and leave bad auberge meals uneaten.
He addresses the logical fallacy of confirmation bias, explaining that people’s tendency, when testing a hypothesis they’re inclined to believe, is to seek examples confirming it.
Kahneman's discoveries and indication of mental capacity and biases could form the basis of a "Mandarin Guerrier Procédé" program: année dilemme form of indoctrination, in which students are trained to understand their brains' weaknesses, and learn to take stances or engage in practices that eliminate pépite reduce the errors to which these weaknesses can lead.
